About Dak Coffee Roasters
Dak Coffee Roasters is an independent specialty coffee roastery based in Amsterdam, founded in 2019 by Louis-Philippe Boucher and Veronique Laharde. Born from a passion for origin diversity and transparent sourcing, Dak operates as a roastery-first business, supplying homes and cafés across Europe through its online shop and wholesale program.
The team sources seasonally via direct-trade relationships in Colombia, Ethiopia, Kenya, Guatemala and beyond, listing farm, variety, process and harvest date on every bag. Roasting on a Loring machine in small batches, Dak balances classic profiles with experimental fermentations, offering a rotating menu that treats scarcity as a feature rather than a bug. Known for eye-catching branding and limited-edition releases, the roastery has built a reputation for discovery-driven coffee journeys.
Whether you are brewing a clean, floral washed Ethiopian or a funky, fruit-forward natural Colombian, Dak’s goal is to make every cup memorable. With no fixed menu and coffees that sell out as new harvests land, regular visitors always find something unexpected. Dak Coffee Roasters proves that a modern roastery can be both a quality-driven craft workshop and a global lifestyle brand, rooted in Amsterdam’s multicultural coffee scene.

Frequently Asked Questions
Dak Coffee Roasters is a roastery-only business based in Amsterdam-Noord. We do not operate a public cafu00e9 or daily espresso bar; instead, we focus on small-batch roasting, quality control and supply. Our coffees are available through our online shop and wholesale partners across Europe. Occasionally we host cuppings, pop-up events or roastery tours by appointment, but these are scheduled experiences rather than a walk-in coffee shop. This model allows us to dedicate our full attention to sourcing, profiling and shipping the freshest possible coffee.
We maintain direct trade relationships with producers in Colombia, Ethiopia, Kenya, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Burundi, supported by trusted importers who share our transparency standards. Every bag lists the farm or washing station, coffee variety, processing method and harvest date. We buy seasonally, which means our menu rotates as fresh harvests arrive and previous lots sell out. This approach guarantees traceability and ensures that we are always roasting coffees at their peak flavour window rather than holding old stock.
We roast on a Loring machine, chosen for its fuel-efficient, clean-burning convection system and exceptional profile repeatability. The Loring allows us to apply gentle, consistent heat that preserves delicate origin notes in washed Ethiopians while still providing enough energy to develop sweetness in dense, high-altitude Colombians. Because we roast in small batches, we can adapt quickly to new arrivals, test experimental profiles and maintain tight quality control from the first sample roast to the final production batch.
Yes, wholesale is a core part of our business. We supply specialty cafu00e9s, restaurants, hotels and offices throughout Europe with full traceability documentation, roast-date guarantees and brewing support. Wholesale partners receive the same rotating, seasonal coffees available on our webshop, including limited-edition lots. We work closely with each account to select profiles that match their equipment and customer base, and we offer training materials or virtual cuppings to ensure the coffee is represented accurately behind the bar.
Our Amsterdam-Noord roastery is not open to casual walk-ins because it is an active production facility. However, we do organise private cuppings, roastery tours and trade tastings by appointment for wholesale partners, coffee clubs and media. These sessions must be scheduled in advance through our general or marketing email. During a visit, guests typically see our green-coffee storage, Loring roaster in operation, sample-roasting station and cupping lab, gaining insight into how we evaluate and profile each seasonal lot.
Absolutely. Our online shop ships across the Netherlands and throughout Europe, with free shipping available on qualifying order thresholds. We dispatch on scheduled production days to ensure coffee leaves the roastery fresh and reaches customers quickly. International orders are packed in protective, minimal-waste packaging designed to preserve aroma and flavour during transit. For wholesale accounts outside the Netherlands, we coordinate logistics through trusted carriers and can advise on customs and import requirements for green or roasted coffee.
