About Hungry Bird Coffee Roaster
Before Canggu transformed into an ocean of digital nomad aesthetic, avocado toast, and generic beach clubs, it was just a sleepy surf village with terrible commercial espresso. Hungry Bird Coffee Roaster single-handedly changed the game. Launched in 2013 by local legend Prawira "Edo" Adhiguna—armed with just a secondhand single-group machine and a desire to feed starving surfers—this place has evolved into an absolute institution of Indonesian specialty coffee. Hungry Bird completely rejects the sterile, clinical look of modern third-wave spaces, opted instead for a high-energy, raw, and unpretentious neighborhood hub. But don't let the relaxed surf-shack energy fool you: with a heavy-duty 15-kilogram Probat roaster humming in the back and a team of competitive brewers at the bar.
